Tribute & Message From The Family

Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother

MAXINE (BOYCE) BUCKMAN, daughter of the late Russell Ivan Boyce of Wallingford, CT and the late Gertrude (Wolff) Boyce of Ithaca, NY and Stow, MA, died on October 17, 2018 after a long debilitating illness. Maxine was very fond of the town of Stow where she had been a resident for 48 years.

She was an avid reader, had a deep interest in history, enjoyed traveling, classical music, nature, and her beloved Golden Retriever Shilo who died in 2009. She liked researching her family tree which included William Brewster and Roger Williams and John Howland.

Maxine was a graduate of Geneseo State Teachers College with a degree in Library Science. She worked as a media assistant in the Paul P. Gates School in Acton from 1970 to 1990. After retiring she enjoyed working as a guide at Fruitlands Museums in Harvard, MA from 1993 to 2003 and at the Orchard House in Concord for 3 years.

She was a member of the Union Church of Stow, the Stow Historical Society, and Fruitlands Museums.

Besides her husband Arnold of 63 years she is survived by her beloved children Robert, Kenneth and his wife Shirley, her son Stephen and her grandson, Luke.

At Maxine's request, funeral services will be private. Condolences may be sent on line via Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, Maynard, MA.

After cremation, a private burial service will be at Brookside Cemetery in Stow.

Instead of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Stow COA 509 Great Rd, Stow, MA 01775, Sounds of Stow 353 Great Rd, Stow, MA 01775 or to Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue 110 Chapin Rd, Hudson, MA 01749.

Arnie and Family I worked with Maxine at Gates School for many years. My little 1st Graders loved
going to the library and hearing Maxine read to them. She had a great sense of humor and they
just loved hearing her read. I enjoyed working with her.
She was a great lady . Jean McGrath Grade One Gates School (many years ago)

Heartfelt condolences on the loss of Maxine! I saw her quite a few times in the 90's when I worked at Emerson Hospital. As I read her obituary, memories of my childhood on Nob Hill Drive in Framingham lingered in my mind! You are all in our thoughts and prayers!

We're so sorry to hear about Maxine. She was certainly a dog lover and always greeted Snickers with a smile. Even when her health was failing and she still lived at home, we would walk down the driveway for Maxine to give Snickers a pet and a scratch behind the ear. Our condolences go to Arnie and all of Maxine's family. Thinking of you all during this difficult time.

To the Buckman family,
Please accept my condolences on your loss. Maxine was a good neighbor. She would stop on her walks with Shilo, to share stories of Stow and of our neighborhood, She knew all the dogs on the street, who loved her as well (since she always had biscuits in her pocket for them!!)
