Tribute & Message From The Family

Loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt

J. Lucille Dixon, a resident of Sudbury since 1961, passed away on November 18th. The daughter of Dr. Charles E. and Ruth (McPhee) Levis, she attended Belmont schools and graduated cum laude from Lesley College with both bachelor's and master's degrees in Education. She worked as a Special Education teacher in Framingham for over twenty years and then at the Sudbury Goodnow Library for another twenty-five years. She also worked as a counselor at the Pine Street Inn Women's Inn in Boston.

Lucille had been a member of the Massachusetts Grand Assembly of Rainbow Girls and was a charter member and past president of the Sudbury Business and Professional Woman's Club. She was an avid reader and was active in the Sudbury Villagers Club as well as bridge and art groups. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and volunteered at the local food pantry and with the Sudbury CERT (Community Emergency Response Team). She was also a volunteer driver for FISH (Friends In Service Helping).

Lucille loved people, birds, butterflies and the beach. She had a great respect for the beauty of the earth and the power of God. She was a life-long learner always with a book at hand, and proud to live in the historic town of Sudbury. She'll be known for taking an interest in everyone she met, communicating with a quick wit and certainly for her welcoming smile.

She leaves a son, Dwight Dixon and his wife Regis of Westford, grandchildren Neil Dixon and his wife Dayna of Leominster and Kimberly Dixon of Westford. She also leaves a brother Bruce N. Levis of Exeter, NH, two nieces and six nephews along with their children and grandchildren, her godson John Daneault of CT, and many very dear friends. She was the sister of the late Dr. Charles E. Levis Jr.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Lucille on Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord Street, Maynard. Her funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial at Wadsworth Cemetery Concord Road, Sudbury.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
