Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother

Mary M. (McMahon) Sharkey, 92, of Sudbury, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Boston on August 29, 1927. The daughter of the late Philip F. and Irene (Hurley) McMahon. In 1950 Mary married George Robert Sharkey in Boston, Massachusetts. Mary and George settled in Sudbury in 1966 and raised their family together. Mary graduated from Northeastern University in 1949. She retired from the Internal Revenue Service after 30 years of service. She enjoyed reading, shopping, working in her garden, and spending time with babies.

She is survived by her children, Deborah and Bruce Cromarty of Sudbury, Mary and Ron Christman of Brookline, NH; Philip and Lisa Sharkey of Sudbury; Barbara Reid of Sudbury; George R. Sharkey Jr. of Sudbury; Roberta Sharkey-Potter of Bolton; Alison and Christopher Boland of Sudbury; her eighteen cherished grandchildren; her thirteen beloved great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George Sharkey, her sisters Alice and Phyllis McMahon, and her son-in-law Gary Reid.

Friends and family are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 10:00 am at Saint Anselm Church, 100 Landham Road, Sudbury MA 01776. Burial will follow at New North Cemetery Pantry Road, Sudbury, MA 01776. Immediately following will be a celebration of her life at Marlboro Country Club, 200 Concord Road, Marlboro, MA 01752.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
