Tribute & Message From The Family

Loving Father, Grandfather and Brother

Charles (Charlie) R. O'Loughlin, age 77, of Maynard, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2020 due to complications from a fall at his home. He is survived by his loving partner Diane V. Wasiuk of Maynard.

Born in Allston, MA on June 1, 1942, he was the son of the late John Joseph and Phyllis Patricia (Turner) O'Loughlin. Charlie was raised and educated in Allston and Brighton, graduating from Brighton High School, Class of 1960.

Charlie's favorite pass time was golfing and at the time of his passing he worked as a ranger for the Maynard Golf Course where he loved to teach people to golf while telling them all about how he had gotten a hole in one, twice, on the same hole years apart.

He was a proud member of the Lincoln MA police dept as an auxiliary police officer for many years until his retirement.

He enjoyed spending time in York Beach, ME with friends and family. He was an amazing artist, an avid card player, especially gin rummy, and he loved all the New England sports teams. He also used to love watching golf and bowling just to torture his children when they were young.

Charlie is survived by his children, Charles O'Loughlin and wife Lisa of Worcester, MA; Thomas O'Loughlin and wife Angela of Douglas, MA; Cally O'Loughlin of Milford, MA; Michael Colt of Groton, MA; Leslie Colt of Groton, MA; his siblings, Thomas O'Loughlin of Florida; Stephen O'Loughlin and wife Kathy of Tewksbury, MA; Linda Shaughnessy and husband David of York, ME; his grandchildren, Samantha, Mackenzie, Terri and Katrina. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Charlie was predeceased by his brother John O'Loughlin and sister Patsy Gardner.

The family will have a celebration of life in the fall when we can all safely get together again.

Gifts in his memory may be made to: Shriner's Hospital 516 Carew St Springfield MA 01104 or Camp Agawam 54 Agawam Rd, Raymond, ME 04071

Condolence & Memory Journal

We were deeply saddened to hear of Charlie's passing when we had finally been able to get out golfing again as a family. Charlie was a good man who was passionate about life and not afraid to let you know what he was thinking which is an often under appreciated quality. Myself, wife and kids would always look forward to having a good laugh with Charlie at the course and his presence will surely be missed. Our condolences to Charlie's friends and family for your loss

My Dad could definitely be a grumpy old man when you first met him but once you got past that and saw the real him; the funny, kind, caring and sarcastic Charlie who would do anything for anyone he cared about, you learned how lucky you were to have this amazing guy in your life. In the wintertime he would clean off other residents cars and move them so they could plow the parking lot, he took people to the Dr and shopping and just a week before he died he took coffee and donuts to the Stow police dept that he paid for by himself. I have heard lots of stories from everyone from his cardiologist to his lawyer to people at his bank that all said they looked forward to him coming in because he would always make them smile. It is stories like that that have helped me get through the last two weeks and will continue to help me get through.
I love you Dad and I miss you like crazy

Good man. I got to know Charlie at the Maynard Country Club. Wasnt afraid to share his opinion. I remember getting a hole-in-one myself on the 3d and Charlie telling me it didnt count because I didnt play 18 holes :)
Rest in peace Charlie.

We lost a great person, brother and friend. He joins Mom, Dad, brother John Joe, sister Patsy as well as many aunts, uncles, nephew, cousins and friends. Under his rough exterior was a sensitive and caring man. He was proud and bragged quite often about his kids and granddaughters, he loved them all very much. I am proud to call Charlie my brother. I'll see you on the other side, save a seat for me.

Charlie and I were co-workers at Maynard Golf Course. His rough exterior was off putting at first. Over time I realized I had gained one of life's precious gifts - a friend. Heartfelt condolences to Diane and other family members.
